Flores
Flores island, Indonesia. Once the Portugese ruled here, hence the names for 'flowers'. Flores does its name justice and you'll find people gardens often decorated with beautiful colourful flowers. Lebuanbajo is where many jump onto trips to Komodo, but not many venture into Flores. If only they knew what they're missing out on! In between volcanos, traditional villages, hot springs etc, you're treated with amazing views of an island that is so green, and has such a variety of vegetation, it even blew the minds of some biologists I met. The locals are very friendly and in for a small chat, always starting with 'hello mister', regardless if you're a woman or a man. I do hope to one day return to this amazing island and explore more of it.
