Camiguin
Camiguin, the 'island born of fire'. Most of the island was created by volcano eruptions, it has the highest concentration of volcanoes anywhere in the world, even has more volcanoes (7) than towns (5). The island is a popular destination for Filipino tourists, but it is still quite off the beaten track for foreign tourists. I planned my week here when the Milky Way would be in perfect position and great visibility during the new moon, but mother nature had other plans and in the whole week I only got 1 time lapse which I had to quit because rain started again. The island is great though, but the volcanoes are more like hills without any real typical cone shapes. It’s a very laid back island with no night life, but there’s plenty to do during the day, like snorkelling, diving, visiting islands, beaches and waterfalls. Read more about it in my blog and watch the time lapse in my Time Lapse Movies section.
