Mt Bromo TimeStacks

Singapore

Singapore skyline at the famous Merlion statue at Marina Bay. This image is created by blending all 480 photos of a 40 minute time lapse shot during sunset. Notice the movement of all people walking around during that time and the boats moving around. By using a 'lighten' transparancy mode all light remains that occurs during the recording, but colors in the sky can become colorful brushstrokes. Photography means 'drawing with light', this is an expression of that, by using light that occurs over time and blending it with other moments in time.

Marina Bay district seen from Marina Barrage, Singapore. It's a bit of a walk to get here, but worth the effort. Especially during sunset, this is a great spot to capture it with a great skyline. You should be able to get even better compositions from this location, but at the time I was there, heaps of construction was going on. This 'timescape' image is created by blending the images of a time lapse, simply by stacking them and using transparancy to achieve the effct. The final image is created from 3 different version to ensure a correct exposure of the sky, the bottom part and the ferris wheel area. The result is an image which plays with time and light in a distorted version of reality.
